This course familiarizes students with an acclaimed body of writing from the African continent and enables them to engage with each writer’s perspective on colonial and postcolonial history, gender, class, race, nationalism and Africa in the 21st century.

This course will explore how translation interacts with various manifestations of activism. It responds to and draws on the growing interest in different forms of activism and activist collectives and communities in the fields of translation and intercultural studies.
