This is a compulsory course for students specializing in Development and Policy Management (DPM) in the first semester and optional for others following the 4-year Honours Degree Programme in Economics.

The course unit is designed to impart knowledge on the two-way relationship between human resource development (HRD) and Economics or Economic Development, while the students are engaged in their final year Internship programme.

HRD studies cover two approaches as Development approach (economics) and organization approach (management), while the students receive a basic understanding on both approaches. While teaching on the theoretical underpinnings of HRD are limited, students are encouraged to learn and observe more on different policy issues related to the link between HRD and Economic development.

Case studies and exercises will enhance the practical application of theoretical aspects learnt.
