Course Description
This
course focuses on the evolution of population theories and provides a sound
knowledge on theories related to mortality, fertility and migration. The course
guides the student to analyze
different views that have emerged with regard to these theories, and critically
evaluate their relevance for analyzing
population dynamics and related issues in different contexts.
Learning outcomes:
On the successful completion of the course student will be able to:
• Identify the evolution of population theories and its
determinants
• Review different theories of population connected to mortality,
fertility and migration
• Analyze the contrasting views that have emerged in relation to
these theories
• Evaluate the applicability of population theories
