Course Description
This course provides students with a knowledge of the demographic evolution in Sri Lanka and its present dynamics. It examines demographic processes that drive population change - mortality, fertility, and migration, in the context of Sri Lanka. Regional Organizations emerged in order to enhance regional security at the initial stage. In the 20th Century, state actors began focusing on regional integration for socio-cultural, economic and most significantly, security reasons.
Initially focusing on theories of regionalism, this course unit subsequently introduces students to a number of regional organizations. It examines the workings of these organizations, with special emphasis on functions of powers invested in these Organizations.
